WATERFORD >> The historical and continuing significance of the state’s
Barge Canal has been recognized with a listing on the National
Register of Historic Places.

The designation was celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 22 during a dedication
ceremony at the Visitor Center for the Erie Canal National Heritage
Corridor located on Peebles Island. The event drew nearly 60 people,
many of whom were board members of the Erie Canal National Heritage
Corridor.
