HERKIMER — The Herkimer County Historical Society at 400 N. Main St.,
Herkimer, is housed in two buildings.

The offices, resource center, library and gift shop are in the 1870 Eckler
house. The resource center offers obituary and marriage files, city
directories, census records, atlases, vertical files on family history,
local history books and more. Books and other items of local interest can
be found in the gift shop.

The Eckler house is also where the society hosts its monthly programs,
which are open to the public. Coming up on May 21 is “Adirondack
Architecture: Great Camps and the Rustic Tradition” by Steven Engelhart and
on June 18, “Roxy Revisited” by James Greiner. Both begin at 7 p.m.
