Before telling you about a multi-page 1957 Rikers Island air crash presentation just added to our NY Correction History Society web site, I want to take a moment to ask your help with reaching out to those who may have a personal connection with that event. Thanks in part to the bravery and team work of Correction staffers and inmates, more than 60 of the 90 or so persons aboard Northeast Airlines Flight 823 were helped from the burning wreckage that snowy, freezing night.

If by any chance you happen know of anyone having a personal or family connection to that event, please pass along this web presentation and e-mail contact information. Feb. 1, 1957 will mark its 50th anniversary. Someone out there may have a recollection, clipping, document or artifact related to the DC-6A crash to share.

Any help you might be able to provide would be most appreciated and gratefully acknowledged.

The multi-page presentation -- including the list of names of those aboard Flight 823 -- can be accessed via an air crash icon image near the top of the home page at
