Those of you who are interested in maps may want to take a look at my new
Web book, "The Mapping of New York State: A Study in the History of
Cartography" at http://www.dyasites.com/maps/nysbook/Title.htm. It is designed
primarily to provide an overview of the subject for librarians and other
researchers. Specialists in the history of cartography will find that it is a
somewhat uneven mix of original research and recapitulation of familiar
materials. For those who want to study a particular
subject in depth, it includes extensive footnotes and links to images on
the Web. It is very much a work in progress, and I have not decided what
format(s) will be used for the final publication. I welcome corrections and
suggestions for improvement.
