   The New York State Library has holdings for several New York City
newspapers, all the information for which (titles and dates) was entered
into OCLC, a national database. The microfilmed copies of these papers
are available through interlibrary loan.
   The New York Public Library also has holdings for NYC papers - some
probably duplicates of the NYSL holdings and some unique. Many, if not
all, of their holdings are also listed in OCLC.
   The OCLC database is available at most larger libraries around the
country.
   For those interested in other cities and times, thanks to the United
States Newspaper Program, which is funded by the National Endowment
for the Humanities (NEH), holdings information of all newspapers for
which there is still at least one issue from virtually every state in the
Union and its territories is available on the OCLC database. For more
