The New York State Library has holdings for several New York City newspapers, all the information for which (titles and dates) was entered into OCLC, a national database. The microfilmed copies of these papers are available through interlibrary loan. The New York Public Library also has holdings for NYC papers - some probably duplicates of the NYSL holdings and some unique. Many, if not all, of their holdings are also listed in OCLC. The OCLC database is available at most larger libraries around the country. For those interested in other cities and times, thanks to the United States Newspaper Program, which is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), holdings information of all newspapers for which there is still at least one issue from virtually every state in the Union and its territories is available on the OCLC database.
