The Local History Division of the Rochester Public Library, 115 South
Avenue, Rochester, NY 14604, has a collection of notebooks (1950-1960?) by
Gertrude Barber who abstracted nineteenth century marriages and deaths from
the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.  Handwritten and difficult to decipher, it is
nonetheless a wonderful resource.  I'd like to hope that someone indexed
these books before they made their way upstate.
