Little Falls, N.Y. — Local students visited Rotary Park in the city of
Little Falls Wednesday to step aboard the New York State Canal
System’s flagship, the Tug Urger.

Fourth-grade students from Benton Hall Academy and Remington
Elementary School in Ilion were able to take a tour of the Urger and
learn about the tug first-hand from its captain and deck hands.

The vessel was built in 1901 and is the oldest tugboat in New York State.

According to Urger Captain Wendy Marble the 112-year old tug has piled
through the waters of New York’s canal system since 1922, and the
Great Lakes before that.
