Little Falls, N.Y. — Local students visited Rotary Park in the city of Little Falls Wednesday to step aboard the New York State Canal System’s flagship, the Tug Urger. Fourth-grade students from Benton Hall Academy and Remington Elementary School in Ilion were able to take a tour of the Urger and learn about the tug first-hand from its captain and deck hands. The vessel was built in 1901 and is the oldest tugboat in New York State. According to Urger Captain Wendy Marble the 112-year old tug has piled through the waters of New York’s canal system since 1922, and the Great Lakes before that. <http://www.littlefallstimes.com/news/x1379227965/Elementary-school-students-learn-about-state-canal-flagship> -- Bob Sullivan Schenectady Digital History Archive <http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/> Schenectady County (NY) Public Library
