Gentle Colleagues:

May I call your attention to an article on the front page of the WEEKEND section
of today's Wall St. Journal?

At the bottom of the page (and continued inside) is a lengthy article about the
problems being  experienced with CD's.   While the issue they are addressing
is "commercial" use of sound recording, it is no different than the problems inherent
in any information in that format (and what makes us think that public records are
not "commercial?")  Public access of records on CD's precludes the fact that dam-
age will occur.

The article is definitely cautionary and should be shared with all.
