     During the Centennial of the war, there were pamphlets published in
Albany by the Commission for the Centennial regarding New York's role in the
war.  They are entitled "New York in the Civil War."  You should be able to
locate them through the State Library in Albany.  I know that Hamilton
Library in Clinton, New York has a set.  Unfortunately, the Commission
expired before 1965, so the last part of the war was never covered.  Also,
the old newspapers from the war years are always full of wonderful
information.  In many cases, men from the various units wrote home as
correspondents to thier town newspapers.  Again, the State Library in Albany
has many of these papers on microfilm.  Good luck!
