I was hoping that someone more knowledgable than me would reply. The
context I have usually seen the word in is pledging money for some
project, such as building a church or railroad, where people "subscribe"
or pledge money. What is the date of the document? If Revolutionary Warm
perhaps it is a subscription to support the war effort. -- Lester
