Can anyone explain the purpose of an earmark? I came acrossed the term
in some of my research on my family, but it just says that the marking
was done and recorded in the town records. Why?
The dictionary just says a marking of the ear, for identification on
either a person or on animals. Was it a punishment?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Kathy
