The Encyclopedia of New York State, a project of Syracuse University Press,
is seeking an assistant editor.  Duties include the assignment of entries
for the encyclopedia as well as fact checking and content editing of
submitted entries.   The position will require excellent organizational,
research, and writing skills.  A good knowledge of New York State history
and culture is a plus.  Ph.D. or advanced ABD in history or kindred
humanities or social science discipline only.

Location in the Albany region strongly preferred. Location in Syracuse or
Rochester area is a possibility.  The position will be three-quarters to
full time; work hours flexible. Employment terms: Independent contractor.
