     I think the title of the book you want is Smokefires in Schoharie by
Don Cameron Shafer (NY: Longmans Green, 1938). The New York State Library
owns a copy of the book, which you may request through interlibrary
loan. Call number: 813.5, S525s. This work of fiction deals with the
Palatine settlers.
