Just need to share today's success with you wonderful people --
I was viewing a film I had ordered from FHC. It started out with wills and
records from 1790-1797, Richmond Co. "Oh, bother", I thought. "Why did I
order this? I must have made a mistake".
Before returning it, I decided to rewind the entire roll as it was not
secured on the roll itself and wasn't wound tightly. (and here's the reward
for all of us in taking a moment to be nice for the next guy....)
Lo and Behold!! Sandwiched between all these 18th century records were obits
from the Staten Island Advance, 1900-1905. I searched page by page and
BINGO!!!
my gr, gr, grandmother's death notice -- Oct, 1904 (I had only known she died
sometime between 1900 and 1910), with the cemetery given as well.
Now hopefully I'll be able to find her husband in the same plot and learn his
date of death (March 1860) and perhaps some of their 9 children who died very
young.
Thanks for listening!! This is the first new info I've had in 3 months, so
I'm really happy.
May you all enjoy the same feeling/success on your current research soon,
Barbara
