... had a large oil painting of his supposed feat exhibited on the front of
his popular bar at 114 The Bowery (NYC) in the 1890's.  It's pictured on page
137 of E. Idell Zeisloft's 1899 "The New Metropolis".

Do any NYHIST subscribers know of its survival?
