The Rensselaer County Historical Society, 57 Second Street, Troy, NY has a quantity of acid free boxes which are offered as a gift to any museum, historical society, archives or archeology agency interested in receiving them. The boxes are an unusual size and there are approximately 300 available. The size of the box is 6.5 in. wide by 20 in. long by 1 in. deep; i.e. the boxes are long, fairly narrow and shallow. They would be good for storing small documents such as receipts, or objects such as gloves, ties, collars and other small clothing items. They may possibly be good for storage of archeology items also. The boxes are acid free and in excellent condition, although they are about 10 years old.
Anyone interested can call or write Jim Corsaro at RCHS at (518) 272-7232 or e-mail at [log in to unmask] These boxes will go "first come, first serve" to those institutions willing to pick them up.
