The University at Albany Department of History, History and
MultiMedia Committee invites all list members to attend 2 events this
week that highlight an aspect of New Yok history that is not widely
known. Both are free and open to the public.
PERFORMANCE
Thursday, October 7, 1999 - 8:00 PM
Page Hall, 135 Western Avenue, University at Albany downtown campus.
"City Water Tunnel #3" - a one woman play about "work, water, and
the human spirit" - written and performed by Marty Pottenger. The
Obie Award-winning "City Water Tunnel #3" tells the story, in the
voices of workers, of the building of a new aqueduct to add to New
York City's water supply. Weaving together extensive interviews with
tunnel workers and personal observations Pottenger examines the
history of the planning, building and financing of the largest
non-defense public-works project in the Western Hemisphere.
WORKSHOP
Friday, October 8, 1999 - 10:00 AM
Humanities 354, University at Albany uptown campus.
