It appears there WILL be a 146th anniversary celebration of the Jerry
Rescue on October 1, in Downtown Syracuse. The preliminary program
calls for wreath layings at the Jerry Rescue monument in Clinton Square,
followed by a walking tour of related sites and a luncheon (possibly
with vintage speeches).

Anyone interested in coming or helping out is urged to contact me at

Persons unfamiliar with the story can locate contemporary accounts in
online versions of books by SJ May or JW Loguen at the UMich Making of
America website at http://www.umdl.umich.edu/moa.

A short and sweet version is provided in the Gerrit Smith Virtual Museum
at http://www.NYHistory.com/gerritsmith/jerry.htm.
