Some towns will have bounty records for town enlistment bounties paid
to encourage volunteers. Also, town and county poor rolls will show the
impact of enlistment on towns as subsistence farmers and others are
away in uniform. I suggest that you also look for county muster rolls in
county archives and county clerk's offices, which will show place of
enlistment and sometimes some fairly pithy local information about
soldiers.
