I don't recall if the below was posted to this list.I cam across it while looking for something else and recalled that there was some recent discussion regarding burial grounds a while back. Anyway this is the whole posting for any interested persons.

  a.. Preserving Historic Burial Grounds (The New York Landmarks Conservancy ) 
  Date: May 15, 2002
  Location: German Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Paul, 315 West 22nd Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues) in Manhattan.
  Description: Preserving Historic Burial Grounds will introduce cemetery caretakers, congregations, and advocates to practical techniques to minimize the deterioration of New York State's historic burial grounds. Nationally recognized experts in graveyard preservation will address topics such as the history of urban and rural burial grounds, survey and documentation of graveyards, repair and restoration techniques of gravestones, memorials, and markers, and landscape maintenance of trees, vegetation, and ground cover. Advocates of successful graveyard restoration projects will also participate in a panel discussion on how to raise funding and awareness for repair and restoration projects. A $35 fee covers all workshop materials, lunch, and a tour of the historic Shearith Israel cemetery. Additional registrants from the same organization, as well as students and seminarians, are eligible for a discounted rate of $30 per person.
