When I purchased my new computer recently the store was willing to take my
old one as a donation to a pre-school.  Maybe a local store would be willing
to put you on their list as customers are often at a loss as to what to do
with their old pc.  The store I donated my computer to did all the clean up
of the hard drive and installed software appropriate to the pre-school.
