The New York State Archives/New York State Library (Manuscripts & Special Collections) research room on the 3rd floor of the Cultural Education Center will close for 1-2 days at two different times in July to permit construction of a new firewall.  The dates of closing may not be known until shortly before the construction begins.  During the construction period the Archives and Library (Manuscripts & Special Collections) will make materials available at alternate sites in the building, by appointment. (Archives will not be able to provide access to microfilm or microfiche, including the NYS Department of Health vital records indexes, during the construction period.)

Researchers planning to use materials in the Archives or the Library (Manuscripts & Special Collections) any time during July are urged to phone or e-mail ahead of time for updated information about the availability of materials!  Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
