SARATOGA SPRINGS — State Adjutant Gen. Patrick Murphy will be here
Saturday to help open the only permanent Civil War exhibit in the
state.

An 11 a.m. ceremony is planned for the official unveiling of “Empire
for Union: New York State in the Civil War,” at the state Military
Museum on Lake Avenue.

The $200,000 project, more than two years in the making, pays tribute
to the sacrifice made by New York soldiers who helped save the Union
and includes a wide variety of weaponry, uniforms, maps and images.
