Actually, its been proven that most families, then as now, did NOT own
guns. There have been numbers of articles & studies on this over the years-
shouldn't be too hard to turn one up. Unfortunately, I no longer have the
particular one I'm thinking of in my files, so can't provide a
bibliographic reference. Sorry.
