HERKIMER — A local woman was honored by the New York Academy of
History for her contributions to historical research and writing.

Jane Spellman, of Ilion, is at work on the second volume of "Women
Belong in History Books," but she took time out to travel to New York
City to attend the organization’s dinner on May 5 at the Cosmopolitan
Club and accept the Herbert H. Lehman Prize for Distinguished
Scholarship.
