Have you looked at NYS newspapers? For the list of newspapers on microfilm at the New York State Library - and, thus, available to you for use at your local library via interlibrary loan from your local library - go to the New York State Newspaper Project Website: www.nysl.nysed.gov/nysnp

I am presenting a paper to a local historical society in October during the reenactment of the dedication of the Chaplain Canal. The original ceremony took place in 1823 near the Albany Basin w/ Dewitt Clinton, et al.
Does anyone have any information regarding this ceremony, photos, location of the original marker, facts and details about the canal in the Albany area, etc.? The Canal Museum in Syracuse has very little information about this section of the canal.
Also, based on comparisons of old maps, is it safe to assume that Erie Blvd. is the original location of the canal as it connected to the basin? Any information you have may be sent directly to the list or to [log in to unmask]
Thank you
