I am curious about the origins of the name of the Mohawk Valley town
of Stone Arabia. I believe that the town was settled by German immigrants,
and the name appears on maps as early as the middle of the eighteenth
century. I can't find any information about the origins of the name in any
of the standard NYS gazetteers, but suspect this must be an easy question
for those of you who are familiar with the history of the region.
