 Dec Programs at Crown Point

There will be two seminar/workshop programs held at the Crown Point State
Historic Site in December.

On December 6 there will be a seminar about using the Internet for
historical research. Participants should be familiar with computers and the
Internet as well as traditional research methods and procedures. There will
be discussions covering the World Wide Web, the 'Invisible" web, the "deep"
web, search engines, search strategies and other resources available on the
Internet.

On December 13 there will be a workshop covering the construction of a
pierced tin lantern. Attendence is limited as this will be a "hands on"
workshop. Participants will be taught how to form and construct a lantern
and shown various piercing techniques and patterns found on 18th and early
19th century pierced tin lanterns. Each participant will be provided with
the necessary parts for their own lantern which they will assemble.

Both programs will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 4:00 PM. The fee for
each of these programs is $45.00 (which includes lunch). Checks should be
made out to the Crown Point State Historic Site. Please mail your checks
with information identifying the program you wish to participate in to the
Crown Point State Historic Site, 739 Bridge Road, Crown Point, NY 12928.
You may make a reservation by responding to this e-mail or calling the site
museum between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, but payment must be
received by to November 20th.

Other seminars/workshops during the coming year are pending. They will
include making a rum horn, hand sewing leather, the art of French cooking,
the art of French table, civilian clothes of the 1750s, reenactor officer
training, French engineering, dating timber-framed structures. If you are
interested in any of these topics, please respond and be specific as to
which topic. When these programs are approved, more information will be
sent out.

Please forward this to anyone you may know who would be interested.
