STILLWATER >> Saratoga National Historical Park rangers spent Monday
preparing for a shutdown during one of the site’s most important times
of year.

The Second Battle of Saratoga was fought Oct. 7, 1777, and British
Gen. John Burgoyne surrendered 10 days later, a major turning point of
the American Revolution.

However, the battlefield and visitors center will be closed beginning
today if the park closes because of a federal government shutdown
caused by congressional disputes over President Barack Obama’s
healthcare policy.
