Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is a 13-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to
enriching America's communities and countryside by creating a nationwide
network of public trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors.

A Short Bio about Craig Della Penna

• Graduate of the Academy of Advanced Traffic & Transportation Management.
  
• Over 20 years experience in the railroad industry and is currently the manager of Railroad Distribution Services Inc. RDS is southern New England’s largest railroad-owned transloading/distribution company.
  
• Author of 3 books with 4 others under production
  
• New England Representative for the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy which is a national non-profit, member supported organization with over 85,000 mem-bers. (about 4500 in NY.) Duties there include:
  
• Testifying at legislative and other public hearings as an expert with first-hand experience having cataloged in a detailed way, over 150 abandoned railroad corridors and Rail-Trails in the Northeastern U.S.
  
• Presented papers and ran workshops at national and international conferences on various themes surrounding rail-trails and community and downtown revitalization.
  
• Member of the committee operating under the aegis of the Federal Highway Admin. which is producing the definitive study on the subject of Rails-with-Trails or dual use corridors.
  
• Accomplished and energizing public speaker with over 200 lectures in 12 states.
