Prof. of History of Univ. of Albany, will speak on Building Community: African Americans in Buffalo and Harlem, an exploration of African Americans' motivation to migrate north and an examination of the vibrant communities they created in cities like Buffalo and NYC. Dr. Williams used archival records to write her book "Strangers in the Land of Paradise: The Creation of an American Community, 1860-1940", which will be available for sale and signing.
