The first Capitol in Albany was built in 1806 from designs by Philip Hooker.
The second (present) Capitol was begun in 1867 and declared complete in
1899. Oneida Castle was never the seat of State Government.

I missed the earlier part of this discussin about the state capitol. Did
anyone mention the Governor's Mansion in Oneida Castle, NY? The present
owners claim it was once to be the capitol, but things changed and Albany
was selected. Others dispute the claim. Does anyone know more about this?
I hope this isn't a redundant question.
