I've been developing a site titled "Maritime History of the Great Lakes" [ http://www.hhpl.on.ca/GreatLakes/ ] which reproduces and/or transcribes a variety of key documents on the history of the Lakes. One that I'm at the point of mounting is a fragment of the 1849 city directory of Buffalo (pp. 58-71). I'm missing the bibliographic description. I've tried a number of sites (the State Library, SUNY Buffalo, NYPL, LoC) which might hold the item. Being an hour's drive from the nearest print source of the answer (the print catalog of microfilm collection of American City Directories prior to 1860) I hoped that someone on the list might have the answer. There are a number of other documents in a growing collection that include other NY material: . the New York State Engineer's report on Navigation Companies, 1859, . elements of Stanton's American Steam Vessels, . the full 1838 Steam Engine Report (practically a "census" of steam in vessels, rail and factories in that year) Thanks in advance.
