Subject: Sodus Point, NY History 1800 to 1920

I am interested in discovering any archival history in regard to early
business ventures at Sodus Point, NY. In the early 1820's, the harbor at
Sodus Point was modified with a breakwater and a pier which provided for
large ship access to Sodus Bay. I am interested in any information that
is available concerning the financing, engineering, and construction of
these breakwaters and piers. Can you guide me to any data you may have
in the archives?

Also, I am interested in the early history of the railroad that was
built in the subject period .. I am especially interested in the
earliest history of this venture at it's beginning. I believe that the
Harriman Family was involved in this early activity and that the line
was Called the Sodus Bay and Southern RR at its start.

Thanks for any leads you can give me.
