I'm happy to see this truth-telling. Personally, I posted on the Woman Suffrage Centennial website that this appears to me to be the Emperor's Clothes-- there's nothing there! Outrageous. Anyone promoting it should be ashamed about how denigrating it is to the very idea of history in NY state. There is, as our working group has been exploring, a huge history of women's rights activism all over the state -- far beyond the standard "upstate" suffrage sites-- and there's nothing here about New York City, full of women's firsts and major historical moments....
Will someone please say how we can get this to be what it should be? Thanks.

I took a look at this site and find it pretty disturbing - this is an almost primitive website - just a list of cultural attractions probably created on an Excel spreadsheet and then queries created and posted by "theme" and "region" - really awful!!! Unless the name or subject of the organization is overtly apparent, a visitor would not have a clue about how many of these places connect to specific themes! For example, the Castellani Art Museum is listed on the "Civil Rights" theme tab, but the description of the Museum says nothing of their connection to civil rights (I assume they are there because of the "Freedom Trail" monuments); just as the Jell-O Gallery shows up on practically every theme but with the same vague description and no clue of its connections to civil rights (slavery and abolition in NY documented there) or women's rights (the female seminary that was formed in LeRoy), etc....

And I see that the
I love NY" heart logo is back to its place in prominence - and the Path "look" is gone - because really, it is all about the people that work in that office - not about the real New York!
