Has anyone seen any mention of a Capt or Lieut. Samuel Rhodes of William Pepperrill's 51 regiment of foot that was involved
in some action of the french and indian War, 1756 or so? Rhodes estate paperwork was filed in late 1756 at North Kingstown , RI.
Rhodes . He was notified in the London's Gentlemens Paper in 1754 that he was of half pay in William Pepperrills unit, which I believe was
the 51 Regiment of foot, William Shirley's was the 50th. Capt. Rhodes was a ship captain but got involved in artillery at the seige of Louisborgh,
Nova Scotia, 1745 and was there in a latter years when the French and Indians tried to capture him, and he uh told them, Get lost, or something
to that effect and was given a letter of commendation. I assume he was involved in the action of 1755 or 56, or was lost at sea, but never
have seen anything more of him . Thank you. He had a son, Walter, born 1738, and there is a Walter Rhodes  who had mail waiting for him (Walter)
In New york, 1756 or so, while Walter was in Oswego.. if it is or was his son...
