Charles Nalle, who escaped enslavement from Culpeper County, Virginia, is the focus of two upcoming events not to be missed: Friday, January 13 Scott Christianson, author of Freeing Charles: the Struggle to Free a Slave on the Eve of the Civil War, will present a lecture and slideshow on his research of the compelling account of the life of Charles Nalle. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, January 27, 28, 29 The Legacy of Human Property, written by playwright Eric Washburn of Castleton, New York, and performed by Civic Theatre Players, recounts the experience of John Nalle as he learns about the heroic efforts of his father, Charles Nalle, to gain his freedom from bondage.
