Albany, NY---Award winning stage, television and film actor Richard Dreyfuss will be honored by the New York State Archives Partnership Trust, Tuesday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the Egg, Center for the Performing Arts in Albany. The hour-and-a-half long program will feature a probing conversation between Dreyfuss and nationally prominent Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer on Dreyfuss’ commitment to promoting the teaching of civics in classrooms nationwide. At the conclusion of the event, Dreyfuss will be presented with the 2010 Empire State Archives and History Award. This award was created by the Archives Partnership Trust in 2005 to recognize prominent national figures for their contributions to our society’s understanding and use of history. Previous winners include C-SPAN founder and CEO Brian Lamb; historians Michael Beschloss, Doris Kearns Goodwin, and Henry Louis Gates, Jr., and actor Sam Waterston who, like Dreyfuss, used his national celebrity to promote greater appreciation of history.
