“Contracting the
Business…” Bateau Economics Along the Hudson and Mohawk
Join us as David Manthey, independent researcher and bateau
captain of the Bobby-G and de Sager, will discuss the cost of running cargo by
bateau in the 18th century and also examine the lives and wages of the men who
were employed in this rough business. Reception at 5:30 p.m. and the lecture to

Schuyler Mansion,
located at 32 Catherine Street
in Albany’s
historic South End, was the eighteenth century home of Revolutionary War
General Philip Schuyler and his family. The home hosted key political and
military figures of the period, and served as the center of Albany society. Generally, guided tours of
the mansion are available Wednesday through Sunday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.;
however, site events and pre-registered groups do alter the tour schedule.
