The New York Correction History Society announces two additions to its www.correctionhistory.org site:

"Was Fatal NYS Prison 'Shower Bath' Punishment Example of Waterboarding 1858 Style?" 
and
"Thar's Historical Gold in Them Thar Jail Ledgers"

The Waterboarding 1858 Style? addition is a web page featuring era text excerpts and images about the 19th Century prison disciplinary device known as the "shower bath" and its inmate fatality  Dec. 2nd, 1858.

The Them Thar Jail Ledgers addition is a slide presentation (about Essex County old jail records) given during the recent Researching New York 2007 conference held at SUNY Albany. Three format versions of the slide presentation have been posted on the web site: PowerPoint, HTML and PDF. 

Each of the two additions -- Waterboarding 1858 Style? and Them Thar Jail Ledgers -- has its own access icon near the top (right side) of the NYCHS home page:  www.correctionhistory.org
