The Larry J. Hackman Research Residency Program provides awards to researchers from a variety of backgrounds for advanced research in state government records held by the New York State Archives in Albany.

Previous Hackman Residents have included academic and public historians, graduate students, independent
researchers and writers, and primary and secondary school teachers. Projects that address enduring public policy issues, or that rely on records that have been little used or are not available on microfilm, are particularly encouraged. Projects may involve alternative uses of the Archives, such as research for multimedia projects, exhibits, documentary films, and historical novels.

Application postmark deadline is January 15, 2008. For more information about the Hackman Research Residency program and for a copy of the application form, visit http://www.archives.nysed.gov/apt/grants/index.shtml.
