The denization of Luis Moses Gomez on April 18, 1705 by Queen Anne, Queen of 
England, Scotland, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith," was an 
important step in the gradual civil acceptance of Jews in colonial American society.

The home of the Gomez family in Marlboro, NY (about an hour's drive north of 
NYC) is the oldest extant Jewish homestead in North America.
