The "Vanderbilt bronzes" ... a broad frieze of railroad and industrial imagery ... were installed on the rail terminal built at Hudson and Beach around 1868. By the time the terminal was demolished in the 1920's or 1930's, the freestanding statue of Commodore Vanderbilt had been removed to the new Grand Central Terminal, at 42nd and Park.
But I have never been able to determine what became of the Vanderbilt bronzes. Does any subscriber know?
