If you can take it to Albany, the State Library has some wonderful "overhead" scanners which are much more gentle. Also, the state archives may have some expertise to share with you about how to copy but still preserve the book.

Good Luck!

Subject: 1811 School Record Book

Hi All:

With recent school renovations, the original Town School Record book has been located for our town.  This is especially exciting as all town records prior to 1850 have been burned.  This book is very fragile and I need some recommendations on proper handling inlieu of just laying it on the Xerox machine and making a copy for circulation to interested town members.

TIA
