The pinkster flower is the pinkster azalea, a native azalea that blooms in late May throughout the Hudson Valley, but a bit earlier here in Brooklyn (especially this year). I am fairly certain, though, that the plant is named after the holiday and not vice versa. Jane Holzka Brooklyn, NY
