Hi All - I'm preparing a paper proposal for the upcoming annual conference, "Researching New York: Perspectives on Empire State History," to be held November 21-22 at SUNY-Albany. If anyone would be interested in preparing a panel proposal on related topics, please let me know. The deadline for proposals is July 15. Further information, including the "Call for Papers" can be found at the conference website - http://nystatehistory.org/researchny My paper will focus on the work undertaken by schools/centers of radical education in the post-WW1 years, with a particular focus on socialist institutions such as the Rand School of Social Science and the Socialist Sunday Schools located in NYC. My Ph.D. dissertation examined the efforts of the Lusk Committee to investigate and eliminate the threat posed by such radical organizations; so my interest in their work comes naturally. If anyone has a related topic of interest--perhaps pertaining to education in New York State, political radicalism, or state regulation, and would like to develop a panel (or serve as chair or commentator) please let me know. Thanks in advance-- Todd Dr. Todd Pfannestiel Department of History Clarion University 840 Wood Street Clarion, PA 16214 phone: (814) 393-2761 fax: (814) 393-2550 e-mail: <[log in to unmask]>
