I am working on a unit history on the 43rd New York Volunteers (The Albany Rifles) from the Civil War. In my research I have come across several references to the Albany Burgess Corps. I must admit I do not know anything about this organization. I surmise it was some kind of militia or patriotic organization. Any info?
