Library Director Founded in 1845, The New Jersey Historical Society is a visitor-centered institution that uses stories of the past to engage visitors in learning. Our collections date from before the state’s founding to the present; our award-winning exhibitions and programs engage a diverse audience in thinking about the past, present and future. We are a partner to many community institutions and are active in the revitalization of Newark. A member of the institution’s four-person senior management team, the Director for the Library is responsible for the oversight of the library and archival collections, which comprise the best collections of New Jersey material in the country. Responsibilities include supervision of library staff (5), user services, collections care and development and electronic cataloguing projects as well as increasing use and participating in strategic planning and fund raising.
